SHIPROCKED CRUISE ADDITIONAL CONTEST RULES

Grand Prize winner and guest will have to sign legal disclaimers. Major rules include:

1. Grand Prize winner and guest must live in the United States or Canada.

2. Grand Prize winner and guest must be 21 or over – no exceptions! Faxed copies of driver’s licenses or other official ID will be required if you are picked as the winner. Grand Prize winner and guest will also need to supply social security numbers for tax purposes. WINNER AND GUEST MUST HAVE A VALID U.S. OR CANADIAN PASSPORT.

3. Grand Prize winner and guest must originate flights from the same airport within the U.S. or Canada. Grand Prize winner and guest must be able to fly to Ft. Lauderdale and provide proper legal ID to the airline and to ShipRocked/MSC Cruise Line.

4. Lodging is one (1) oceanview stateroom, double occupancy on the cruise. In the event the winner is chosen from a place in the U.S. or Canada necessitating a flight one day prior to the cruise, one (1) hotel room, double occupancy, will be provided in Ft. Lauderdale on the night prior to the cruise departure. Hotel will be chosen by our ShipRocked/MSC Cruise Line sponsor at their discretion.

5. ALL GROUND TRANSPORTATION TO and FROM THE FT. LAUDERDALE AIRPORT TO and FROM THE CRUISE SHIP AND POSSIBLY TO AND FROM THE HOTEL IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE GRAND PRIZE WINNER. So, the winner must be able to rent a car and have a valid driver’s license OR instead pay their own way on the airport and/or hotel shuttles and/or city taxi to/from ship and hotel.

6. All guests must ensure that they are medically and physically fit for travel. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) provide guidelines as to which vaccinations are required in each country. In many cases inoculations are recommended but in some circumstances they are required. Huge congrats to HOH fan and KMAX/Ft. Collins, CO listener Dennis Schenkenberger who will be enjoying the ShipRocked five-day headbanging cruise to Jamaica and Grand Cayman. Dennis and his wife Ann (pictured) will be floating their way to the islands while checking out live performances from Queensryche, Skid Row, Tesla, Ratt and more. As you can see, they’ve got a head start on the “chill” part of the cruise!

Also on their way to board ShipRocked are WBWR/Columbus, OH, listener Lisa Berger and her husband, Phil. Lisa won part 1 of our contest earlier this year.

“I am a hardworking blue collar metalhead from the ‘80s. I currently work as a police officer, but beneath the clean pressed uniform, shiny gun belt and short cropped hair is a leather pant wearing, teased hair maniac that has to repress the feelings to jam an iPod down the throat of some yuppie drinking a Starbucks listening to the latest Maroon 5 album. Instead of drinking free coffee and eating donuts I should be pounding Jack Daniels and trashing a hotel room!

I’ve spent the past three months working nights — “Walk(ing) In The Shadows” – and I need five days of Caribbean sunshine. I’m a 39 year old “Modern Day Cowboy” fighting against the evils of country music and easy listening adult contemporary radio stations. The “Revolution’s Calling” and I want to be on a cruise instead of standing on the thin blue line between total chaos and order.

So, for five days let me fight the man instead of being the man. I know that these contests are “Ez Come, Ez Go,” but I would prefer to go. So, do the right thing and look into the “Eyes Of A Stranger” and tell him that he’ll be listening to Operation Mindcrime instead of fighting actual crime.”

Queensryche “Home Again” Video Contest

Queensryche are looking for photos of military members and their families to be included in their new music video. Of all the photos submitted, one will win an ESP LTD Michael Wilton signature series guitar signed by the band.

Queensrÿche’s touching ballad “Home Again” from their latest album American Soldier has really struck a chord with the military community and now the band wants your help making a video. Queensrÿche is asking members of the military to submit pictures of themselves with their families to be featured in the upcoming music video for the song “Home Again.”

Photos can be uploaded photos from 7/14/09 – 7/26/09. One grand prize winner will be selected at random from all eligible entries. No purchase necessary. To read the official rules, click here.

Like all the songs on American Soldier, “Home Again” is based on a real soldier’s story as told to singer Geoff Tate. The song features a rare duet between Geoff and his 11-year-old daughter Emily and examines the emotional toll of war from two perspectives – Geoff singing from the soldier’s point of view and his daughter singing from that of the child left behind.

“This song is inspired by a series of letters between a soldier and his young daughter back at home. He was laughing about how he thought it was really cute to him that in the letters, they were both saying the same things and even using the same terminology,” says Tate. “There is a lot of emotion attached to this song. The whole idea of separation between loved ones is one of my favorite topics, perhaps because I live and breathe it being away from my kids and my wife while touring. You miss them so much, and it’s like you live two separate lives. When you’re a soldier and you’re away, it’s very difficult to bridge those two worlds.”

Huge congrats to Dee Snider’s House Of Hair listener LISA BERGER who has won passage on ShipRocked! Lisa and her husband Phil listen to the HOH faithfully on 105.7 WBWR “The Brew” in Columbus, Ohio and are already setting up babysitters for their 3 kids so they can ditch them and have an “adults only” great time!

Queensryche heard they were coming and have already rolled out the red carpet. The HOH caught up with them just this week at their show in Stamford, CT (where they ROCKED the new American Soldier CD) and they sent their best!

“When my husband and I first met, our first common interest was rock-n-roll. We’d talked for hours about our favorite bands and our first gifts to each other were concert tickets to various heavy metal bands, including Queensryche. Since then, we got married and have 3 lovely children but not a moment to spare to spend together other than our Sat. night ritual of listening to House of Hair and having a beer or two while the kids watch a movie. I would like to get shiprocked with my husband and go down memory lane. We’ve seen Tesla and Queensryche in the past years but are way over due to see them again. Actually the last time we saw Queensryche was in Columbus, OH at least 7 years ago and the biggest bummer was that Geoff Tate had a sore throat and only sang 3 songs then had to cancel the rest of the show. We totally understand his dilemma but we were really looking forward to the show. Since our kids have been born (our oldest is almost ten years old), we had “gotten away” from them once when my husband had his 20th year high school reunion this summer for one overnight. (Actually we had two other overnights if you count when we had our second and third child at the hospital which I do not count!)

House of hair, please help us rekindle our heavy metal love for each other!”
