Their conclusion? “To minimise the risk of head and neck injury, head bangers should decrease their range of head and neck motion, head bang to slower tempo songs by replacing heavy metal with adult oriented rock, only head bang to every second beat, or use personal protective equipment.”

I’ll give you a minute to stop laughing…

Frankly, I find the notion of academics studying anything related to heavy metal quite amusing – and it seems there are plenty of angles to consider. This one is my personal fave.

Equally humorous to me is that in this new Wikisociety in which we live, someone (or several people) actually took the time to detail, and reference, all the varying styles of head banging. Although, I completely honor them for doing it.
