Well, after having had nearly a year to take in Broken Teeth’s latest collection of sheer awesomeness called Viva La Rock, Fantastico!, I’m frankly afraid of what the Metal Gods have in store for us this November. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see the ship go Transformer on us, and unfold into heavy metal headbanging robot mode.

Says Blabbermouth…

“Viva La Rock, Fantastico!” is another evil sermon of devilish delights and rock-altar anthems. From the torch-fire, rat-a-tat blast of “Blackheart” and the frantic missile-scream of “Dressin’ Up in Flames” to the nervous shakedown of “Break the Spell”, and the aptly titled “Exploder”, “Viva La Rock, Fantastico!” finds BROKEN TEETH’s six-string pitchfork attack taking equal jabs at feverish fun (“Twister” and “Bullet”) and pleasurable pain (“Spitting Nails” and “Get Outta Here Alive”).

Our simple review is that the new album is Viva La Rock, Kickasstico!

Needless to say you do NOT want to miss Broken Teeth perform if they’re in your area. And you damn sure don’t want to miss what happens onboard this November!

Tom Keifer, best known as front man to blues rock outfit Cinderella, has been working on a solo record for what seems like forever. While many critics and fans alike mused the work wasn’t done, Keifer sets the record straight. In fact, his solo album is ready for release and includes some songs originally written for the ill-fated, turn-of-the-millennium Cinderella record that never saw the light of day, thanks to legal problems. For now, the solo release is all a matter of right place, right time logistics.

“I had the record pretty much ready to go back in ‘05 or ‘06 — or I had a version of it I thought I liked — then I had this voice problem kind of set in on me on the last tour we did in ‘06 and it’s taken me three years to regain my voice,” Keifer tells Noisecreep.

The ‘voice problem’ is something that’s famously plagued the singer for years. With the downtime of retraining his singing voice, Keifer worked and reworked his solo album to perfection, getting the songs to a point that just felt right. Of course, tours usually accompany new records and when you can’t sing … how can you hit the road?

“During that period of not having a voice, it just felt wrong to go and get a label involved and release a record that I couldn’t tour behind to support so I just shelved the record,” Keifer admits.

Ever positive, Keifer used his downtime to learn patience and to become a better musician. “I’m much happier where it is now than where it was three years ago,” he said. It’s another one of those things where a lot of positive things came out of a negative thing. The downtime with my voice gave me perspective about the record I was working on, so that is kinda of cool.”

For now, Keifer is gearing up for a summer run with Cinderella and is making plans to finally release that solo record. “I gotta find a label and get some money to release it. We produced it independently and we’ll be looking to do something with that in the near future,” he said.

“I am a hardworking blue collar metalhead from the ‘80s. I currently work as a police officer, but beneath the clean pressed uniform, shiny gun belt and short cropped hair is a leather pant wearing, teased hair maniac that has to repress the feelings to jam an iPod down the throat of some yuppie drinking a Starbucks listening to the latest Maroon 5 album. Instead of drinking free coffee and eating donuts I should be pounding Jack Daniels and trashing a hotel room!

I’ve spent the past three months working nights — “Walk(ing) In The Shadows” – and I need five days of Caribbean sunshine. I’m a 39 year old “Modern Day Cowboy” fighting against the evils of country music and easy listening adult contemporary radio stations. The “Revolution’s Calling” and I want to be on a cruise instead of standing on the thin blue line between total chaos and order.

So, for five days let me fight the man instead of being the man. I know that these contests are “Ez Come, Ez Go,” but I would prefer to go. So, do the right thing and look into the “Eyes Of A Stranger” and tell him that he’ll be listening to Operation Mindcrime instead of fighting actual crime.”
