American Soldier finds Queensrÿche once again tackling some heavy subject matter, this time focusing on telling the story of war from a firsthand perspective. Singer and chief songwriter Geoff Tate has spent the last few years conducting extensive interviews with veterans and has crafted their thoughts into this epic tale. American Soldier examines American wars from World War II through Iraq from the viewpoint of those in the trenches and on the frontlines.

“Queensrÿche has always had incredible support from members of the Armed Services,” says Tate. “It seems like after every show, I’d end up speaking with a fan that was or had been involved with the military. The more and more I began to hear their accounts and feelings, the more I really felt a conviction to tell their story. Over the last two years, I’ve conducted dozens of one-on-one interviews with veterans of many different American wars. I listened to their amazing and moving recounts and did my best to examine war through their eyes.”

Hi guy’s,I am a 43 yr. old fan of yours from south central Mississippi and I would like to commend you guy’s on a dvd that I recently purchased. The 1&2 Mindcrime at the Moore.I was blown away at the performance,I do appologize for a long time in the purchase and will never let that happen again. My wife and I saw you on the original Mindcrime Tour.I saw you in 1983 or 1984 (memory lapse) when you opened up for Ozzy. From then on I was a fan. Please in the future, come closer to the pinebelt area, preferrably south ms. . I know you guy’s have been to New Orleans in the past but please come again because with 2 lovely children it is hard to just pick up and go.If you read this it would make my day as well as my wife’s.Thank you for the past and present memories Keith and Christy

I too am 43 and a huge Ryche fan. The first time I saw you guys in San Diego was around 1985 at the California Theater with Keel and Black & Blue. There may have been another band or two, but you guys stole the show and I have been a follower ever since. I’ve seen you everytime you’ve come to San Diego throughout thepast 20+ years. Thanks

Interesting news. Many of old folks were very wild back in the day (some still are)…but, I have a feeling this new young blood will take it seriously.
